Pre/Post Care
- 017 days before it is advised: • Avoid retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene) • Avoid exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs, glycolic, salicylic acid). • Avoid waxing, chemical peels, laser, or other aggressive treatments on the area. • Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds • Stop using self-tan on the area. 3–5 days before: • Avoid NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen) if possible as they can increase bruising. • Avoid alcohol 24–48 hours before. Day of treatment: • Arrive with clean skin (no makeup, lotion, sunscreen) • Stay hydrated • Eat a light meal beforehand. * Reduce caffeine intake.
- 02First 24–72 hours Skin may feel: • Tight • Warm • Red • Slightly swollen Care: Use only: • Gentle cleanser (if allowed) • Healing moisturizer • Barrier creams prescribed • Avoid: • Makeup • Sun exposure • Heat (saunas, hot showers, workouts) • Touching or picking Days 3–7 visible peeling, flakiness, excess dryness, mild itching may occur. Do: • Moisturise frequently • Use mineral sunscreen • Be very gentle with skin Do NOT: • Pick peeling skin • Use scrubs • Use retinol • Use acids • Use exfoliating brushes Picking can cause pigmentation and scarring. What to Avoid for 7–14 Days • Retinoids • AHAs/BHAs • Vitamin C (for stronger peels) • Benzoyl peroxide • Scrubs • Waxing • Laser • Microneedling * Other facial treatments, When to Call Your Provider Contact them if you have: • Severe swelling • Blistering • Intense burning • Dark patches forming • Signs of infection (pus, fever)
