Chemical Peels
Pre/Post Care
- 017–14 days before peel Stop using: • Retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene) • Exfoliants (AHA, BHA, glycolic, salicylic acid) • Scrubs or physical exfoliants. Avoid: • Waxing, threading, laser, microneedling in the area • Excessive sun exposure / tanning Use: • Gentle cleanser, Moisturiser moisturiser and a daily SPF 30–50. 3–5 days before • Avoid: • Facial treatments • Shaving over the area (for face) • Self-tanner • Stay well hydrated Day of peel • Arrive with: • Clean skin • No makeup • No lotion • No perfume on treated area
- 02The First 24 hours your skin is in healing mode and hypersensitive to any perfumed or potent products. • Do not wash your face for the first 24 hours. • Do not apply makeup • Use only the Skinpen products provided at your treatment. • Avoid sweating, exercise, saunas, hot showers, swimming. • Do not touch with unwashed hands. • No sun exposure • No active skincare ingredients (retinol, acids, vitamin C, etc.) Expect Redness and a sensation similar to sunburn, Warmth, Mild swelling & Tightness this is normal and will settle down. . Days 2–3 Skin may feel, Dry, Rough and flaky. You can usually begin: • Gentle cleanser • Gentle sunscreen • Normal exercise activities, makeup and SPF 30+ is now allowed, providing the skin is not inflamed or sensitive anymore. Still avoid: • Retinoids • Exfoliants • Scrubs • Fragrance-heavy products Days 4–7 • Skin often starts looking less irritated, sensitive and dry and begins to look brighter and feel smoother. What to Avoid for 7 Days • Sun exposure / tanning • Retinol • AHAs/BHAs • Benzoyl peroxide • Physical exfoliation • Chemical peels • Laser treatments • Waxing Contact me immediately if you experience: • Severe swelling • Yellow discharge • Signs of infection • Worsening sensitivity after
