Laser Hair Removal
Pre/Post Care
- 014 weeks before treatment: Stop waxing, bleaching, threading, tweezing, epilators as they remove the hair root, which the laser needs intact so it can destroy it. You may shave as needed 14 days before • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tan on the area to be lasered. • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily on exposed areas. • Stop retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide on the treatment area. Day of treatment: • Shave the area, • Avoid wearing Deodorant on underarms. • Skin should be clean, dry, product-free. • Wear loose clothing over treated areas. • Alcohol (can increase sensitivity).
- 02First 24–48 hours: • You may experience redness and mild swelling (like goosebumps) this is normal. • Apply cool compresses if needed. • Use aloe vera or soothing gel. Avoid: • Hot showers • Saunas / steam rooms • Heavy exercise / sweating • Sun exposure • Tight clothing over area • Makeup on treated facial areas Days 3–7 • Skin usually calms down • Regrowth might be slower. Continue: • Gentle cleanser • Moisturizer • Sunscreen daily (SPF 30–50) Avoid: • Scrubs or exfoliation until skin is fully calm • Retinoids and acids until no irritation remains Day 10-14: • The hairs will begin to shed. • Use a gentle exfoliant to help remove the hairs and avoid ingrown/ trapped hairs. What to Avoid Between Sessions: • No waxing, threading, tweezing • Shaving is fine • Always protect skin from sun exposure • Do not use at-home IPL devices on the treated area Call your clinic if you notice: • Blistering • Burns • Persistent swelling • Severe pain • Dark scabbing
